Chapter One: Introduction

1.1 Background of the Study

Entrepreneurship plays a critical role in driving economic growth and addressing youth unemployment in developing countries. Films, as a medium of mass communication, have the power to influence perceptions, shape aspirations, and inspire action (Okoye & John, 2023). In Jos South Local Government Area, Plateau State, where youth unemployment remains a pressing issue, Nollywood and other film industries provide narratives that highlight entrepreneurial success stories, resilience, and innovation. These narratives can serve as motivational tools, encouraging youths to pursue entrepreneurship as a viable career path (Ahmed & Ibrahim, 2024). By blending entertainment with education, films contribute to shaping entrepreneurial attitudes and promoting a culture of self-reliance.
